A clicking hard drive often signals a mechanical failure within the drive itself. This can be caused by:

  • Head crash: The read/write heads of the drive come into contact with the platters, causing physical damage
  • Stiction: The heads become stuck to the platters.
  • Motor failure: The motor that spins the platters fails, preventing the heads from accessing data.
  • Other mechanical issues: Problems with the actuator arm, bearings, or other components.

These mechanical failures make data recovery significantly more complex.

Due to the increased complexity and time involved in recovering data from clicking hard drives, these cases are not covered by our standard "No Data, No Charge" guarantee*.

Please note that data recovery from RAID systems (RAID 0, 1, 2, 5, or 10) does not result in a bootable drive. The recovered data will be provided to you on a new storage device, and you will be responsible for reinstalling it onto your system.

Our RAID recovery service focuses solely on retrieving your lost data. We do not provide technical support for rebuilding your RAID array, reinstalling operating systems, or configuring your system to recognize the recovered data.

To ensure the successful restoration of your system, we recommend engaging a qualified IT professional or computer technician. They can assist you with:

  • Rebuilding your RAID array with the recovered data.
  • Reinstalling your operating system and any necessary applications.
  • Configuring your system settings for optimal performance.
